M. Frances Brock

M. Frances Brock, 81, of Meadville, died Friday, August 27, 1999 at St. Vincent Health Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born March 4, 1918, in Scottsdale, KY, a daughter of the late Rev. Nelse and Nancy Mansfield Nordrum.  She married Oliver S. Brock, June 1, 1942.  He preceded her in death November 15, 1987.

She was a 1936 graduate of Sharon High School and a 1939 graduate of the Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing where she received  her degree as a registered nurse.  She was employed as a registered nurse at the former Meadville City Hospital for many years, retiring in 1985.  She was a member of the Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.  She enjoyed quilting and was a kind and caring person who thought of others before herself.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara Jane Grogan (James P.) of Meadville; two sisters, Rachel Shawgo of Grove City and Mabel Brock of Meadville; two stepsisters, Audrey McFall of Dunedin, FL and Helen Shannon of Brookfield, OH.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Nordrum; one sister, Esther Peterson; one half brother, Arnold Bowman; and one half sister, Annette Nordrum.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
