M. John Fox

M. John Fox, 77, of Meadville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie.

He was born September 11, 1938 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, a son of M. John and Ethel Koskela Fox.  He married Pamela Todd McMorran February 12, 1972 and she survives.

John was a 1970 graduate of Albion College, Albion, MI where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.  He did post-graduate work in library science at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI.  John was a librarian, historian, and genealogist.

He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Meadville.  He was a past president of the Meadville Council on the Arts and member of the Crawford County Historical Society and the New England Genealogical Society.  He enjoyed genealogy but his passion was music, especially opera and classical music.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Pam of 43 years, include two daughters, Charlotte Cloe Wind and her husband Bradley of East Coventry, PA and Harriet Edith Geahr and her husband Artie of Whitehaven, PA; three granddaughters, Lucia and Rosie Wind and Olivia Geahr; a sister, Marycloe Pendred and her husband Victor of Standish, MI; three nieces and one nephew.

There are no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Church, 346 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 or the Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, 21601 Stull Rd., Saegertown, PA 16433.

The arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where memories and condolences may be shared at waidfuneralhome.net.
