Mabel B. Thompson, 88, of Meadville, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Hartstown March 31, 1922, a daughter of Clarence and Blanche Hunter Ellis. She married Carl C. Thompson September 3, 1942 and he preceded her in death March 28, 1984.
She was a graduate of East Fallowfield High School and was employed as a sales clerk at the J.C. Penney Company, Meadville for over 40 years. She formerly enjoyed bowling in the couples league at the Meadville Eagles Club and also enjoyed canning.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Weir and her husband Bill of Meadville; two grandsons, William and Daniel Weir; a great-granddaughter, Kristen Thompson; and several nieces and nephews including her niece, Jeanne Hanes whom she helped raise.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry C. Thompson, a grandson, Michael Thompson, two brothers, Elmer and Wilford Ellis, and a sister, Marian Bennett.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at a future date and time to be announced.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
