Mabel N. Brock

November 9, 1909 — June 5, 2005

Mabel N. Brock, 95, formerly of Limber Rd., Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there, Sunday, June 05, 2005.

She was born November 9, 1909 in Oakland, KY a daughter of Rev. Nels and Nancy Mansfield Nordrum.  She married James G. Brock June 26, 1936 and he preceded her in death October 25, 1995.

She worked as a registered nurse and retired in 1973 from the former Meadville City Hospital after 25 years of service.

She was a graduate of Mercer High School and Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary and the Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Easter Star.

Survivors, include one son, George D. Brock of Falls Church, VA; three sisters, Rachel Shawgo of Grove City, Audrey McFall of Dunedin, FL and Helen Shannon of Brookfield, OH; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James V. Brock; three sisters, M. Frances Brock, Esther Peterson and Annette Nordrum; one brother, Harold Nordrum and one half-brother, Arnold Bowman.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Cribbs Home Library at Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in McCracken Chapel at Cribbs Home, with Rev. David Fugate, Assoc. Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335 or the Meadville Medical Center, 751 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
