Mable B. Maxwell

September 29, 1887 — January 12, 1963

Mrs. Mable B. Maxwell, 75, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 12, 1963, at Spencer Hospital after a brief illness.  She was the widow of George Maxwell, a former city councilman who died in 1954.

Mrs. Maxwell was born in Greenwood Township, September 29, 1887, a daughter of Wayne A. and Ella E. Mallery Barbour.  For several years, she was a switchboard operator at Allegheny College.  She was a member of Stone Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of Christian Service, and the Beacon of Light Class of the church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Shellito of Westminster, MD; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Williamson of East Palestine, OH, Mrs. William (Bessie) McGuire of Conneaut Lake and Mrs. Alice Splitstone of Harmonsburg; a brother, Earl Barbour of Harmonsburg; and two grandchildren, Miss Deborah Lee Hummel of Westminster and Lawrence P. Gould of Meadville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
