Madge Gilliand

Mrs. Madge Gilliand, 86, a resident of Northfield, OH, since 1973, died at Valley View Nursing Home, Akron, OH, Saturday, February 6, 1982, following a two-month illness.  The widow of George Richard Gilliand, she was a Meadville resident for 40 years.

She was born at Wilmerding, Allegheny County, April 23, 1895, a daughter of Charles and Mary Kelly Arthurs.  She married Mr. Gilliand September 13, 1913.  He died December 17, 1979.

She was employed for many years as a seamstress in the alterations department at the former Crawford Store, Meadville and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Gilliand is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Marion) Balogh of Northfield; a son, George A. of Stow, OH; a sister, Mrs. Marie Hills of Meadville; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
