Mae L. Sutley

Mae L. Sutley, 89, of Guys Mills, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born June 17, 1922 in Stroudsburg, a daughter of Glenn Ford and Nellie Maria Morrison Woodcock.  She married Clifford Merl Sutley January 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death in December 1980.

Mae was a 1940 graduate of Randolph High School and a graduate of the Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing where she received her registered nurse degree.  She was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps.  A homemaker, she was previously employed as a registered nurse at Meadville City Hospital.

Mae was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.  She was a member of the Townville Area Senior Citizens and the Crawford County Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting and crafting.

Survivors include a son, Lee Sutley and his wife Betsy of Newton Falls, OH; a daughter, Lois Jean Sutley of Meadville; four grandchildren, Kimberly Stevens and her husband Bruce of Bowling Green, OH, Dawn Nutter and her husband Patrick of Newton Falls, OH, Cassandra Sutley of Streetsboro, OH, and William Sutley of Newton Falls, OH; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Matthew Stevens and Elizabeth and Emily Nutter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Ford Sutley; a sister, Gladys Flaugh; and a brother, Richard Woodcock.

A private family viewing will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville followed by interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills with the Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor officiating.
