Malvena F. Wasson, 91, a resident of Hillside Home since August 1985, formerly of Meadville, died Monday, April 4, 1988, at the nursing home following a short illness.
Mrs. Wasson was born in Meadville, May 7, 1896, a daughter of Albert D. and Louisa Mead McNamara. She was a direct descendant of John Mead, who with his father, Darius Mead, accompanied David Mead when he founded Meadville in 1788. She married Stanley Harrison Wasson, August 20, 1919. He preceded her in death March 2, 1975.
Mrs. Wasson was a member of First Baptist Church, the church's Plus Ultra Sunday School Class, the church's Deborah Circle and was active with the church's flower committee for many years. She was a member of the former Meadville City Hospital Ladies Advisory Committee and a former member of the Meadville Garden Club. She was a graduate of the former Wayland High School in East Mead Township and attended the former Edinboro State Teachers College.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Geoffrey (Evelyn) Farnum of Boston; three sons, Lorance (Bud) Wasson of Meadville, William C. Wasson of North Kingsville, OH and Jack H. Wasson of Meadville; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Saegertown Cemetery.
