Marcelline J. 'Marcie' Barker

Marcelline J. “Marcie” Barker, 101, a resident of Hillside Home, Meadville from 1989 to 2004, died Tuesday, June 07, 2005 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born March 8, 1904 in Youngsville, a daughter of the late Emmett O. and Jane Harper Stebbins.  She married Carl H. Barker September 30, 1933 and he preceded her in death November 26, 1984.

She was a graduate of Warren High School and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a member of its Wesleyan Circle of United Methodist Women.

She was a member of Farrell Court 120, Order of the Amaranth and was a past member and past Matron of the Allegheny Court 115.  She was a member of the Western Pennsylvania Past Matrons and Patrons Club and was a past Patron and honorary member of the Conawango Court 20, Warren.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Monica Stebbins, Maxine Logan, and Fausta Miller and 1 brother, Linson Stebbins.

Calling hours will be Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with an Order of Amaranth Service at 1:45 p.m.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Hillside Home, 535 Williamson Rd., Meadville, PA 16335, Grace United Methodist Church, 828 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
