Margaret A. "Peg" Gilliland

January 23, 1927 — May 7, 2020

Margaret A. “Peg” Gilliland, 93 of Stoneboro, passed away on May 7, 2020 at UPMC Horizon in Greenville. Peg was born in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, PA on January 23, 1927 to the late Roy N. and Ruth N. (Raffensparger) Dell. During World War II, Peg worked at the Keystone Ordinance Works “TNT Plant” and later on worked at Mercer Greenhouse and at Ginny Butala’s Dress Shop in Stoneboro. She also worked as a homemaker for her family. She was of the protestant faith and was a very talented artist. She was known as the “Scrabble Queen” and also enjoyed playing bingo and card games, as well as crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Peg married her beloved husband, Howard K. “Porky” Gilliland on January 11, 1980, he preceded her in death June 16, 1986. Peg is survived by her daughters; Loretta “Lorrie” Smith of Greenville, Diane Martin of Greenville, and Carol Thomas and husband Charles of Fredonia, sons Edward Reagle and wife Denise of Stafford, VA, and Raymond Reagle and wife Brenda of Grove City, step-sons Ronald Gilliland and wife Chris of Stoneboro, and Todd Gilliland and wife Becky of Hadley, twelve grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, her very dear friend, Laura Thompson, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Peg was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Fred Smith and John Martin, and siblings; George Dell, Ruth Dell Tidswell, and twins Joe and Jim Dell. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of UPMC Horizon – Greenville, and the The Grove at Greenville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. Due to recent health concerns, services will be private. Interment will take place in Shenango Cemetery, Greenville. Memorials in Peg’s name may be sent to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd, Greenville, PA 16125.
