Margaret A. Shoop Souhtall, 80, of Blooming Valley, died unexpectedly at home of natural causes Monday, October 18, 1999.
She was born in East Mead Township, Crawford County, January 3, 1919, a daughter of Hiram and Mollie Reedy Smith. She married Harold W. Shoop September 20, 1943 and he preceded her in death March 7, 1966. She subsequently married Roy Southall and he preceded her in death March 1982.
She retired in 1988 as an assistant secretary at Patrons Mutual Fire Assn. after 30 years of service. She had also worked at one time at American Viscose Corp. She was a 1937 graduate of Meadville High School, a member of Wayland Baptist Church and its adult Sunday School and Bible Classes. She was the past secretary/treasurer of the church missionary society for many years and she was a long time member of the Richmond Grange.
Survivors, include two sons, Harold W. Shoop, Jr. (Angel) of Meadville and Ralph H. Shoop (Charlotte) of Guys Mills; two daughters, Doris Ann Caldwell (Howard) of Venango and Dr. Mollly Marie Prussia (Dr. Stanley) of Griffin, GA; two sisters, Bessie Trout of Meadville and Eleanor Hamilton (Rev. James) of Meadville; a brother, Stanley M. Smith (Leora) of Meadville; six grandchildren, Brian Shoop, Arlan Perry, Philip Perry, Daniel Prussia, Andrew Prussia and Timothy Prussia; two step-grandchildren, Melissa Zlihaver and Steven Silhaver.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Smith and Ira S. Smith.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
