Margaret Ann 'Peg' Gizzie

July 24, 1933 — November 18, 2007

Margaret Ann “Peg” Gizzie, 74, of Meadville died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center, Warren, OH.

She was born in Meadville July 24, 1933 a daughter of John and Nellie McQuiston Gizzie.

She was a graduate of Meadville High School and received her BA degree in Sociology from Allegheny College and a BS in Nursing from the Frances Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.

She retired in December 1998 as occupational health nurse from Meadville Medical Center after 26 years of service.  Previously she had worked at the University Hospital in Cleveland and at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Denver.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a former church Elder, a Stephen Minister and traveled to the Holy Lands and Israel with a group from the church.  She made other mission trips and loved to vacation in Hawaii.  She also was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

Survivors, include: a brother, Robert W. Gizzie and his wife Jackie of St. Charles, MO; four nephews, John W. Gizzie of Meadville, James M. Gizzie of Boca Raton, FL, Mark Gizzie of St. Charles, MO and Scott Gizzie of Gray, TN; four nieces, Diane Gizzie of Aurora, CO, Mary Gizzie of Littleton, CO, Susan G. Santek of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Nicole Gizzie of Columbia, MO; a sister-in-law, Louise W. Crosley of Meadville and several great nephews and a great niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William B. Gizzie and John M. “Jack” Gizzie.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Travis Webster, Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
