Margaret Hanford Smith

May 25, 1918 — September 12, 1942

Mrs. Margaret Hanford Smith, died Monday, May 10, at age 75.  She was the daughter of C. Edward and Emily Rose Hanford, Hobart, NY.  She married the Rev. Dr. William A. Smith on September 12, 1942.  She was a graduate of Muskingum College, New Concord, OH and the Columbia University School of Library Science in New York City.  She worked as a children's librarian for the New York City Public Library.

Survivors, in addition to her husband are Mrs. Graham, Marilyn Smith Johnstone of Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. Brian, Beverly Smith Lacy of Wooster, OH, Mrs. Lynn, Elaine Smith Snyder of Wooster, OH, Mr. Ralph E. Smith of Amherst, VA, Mrs. John, Katherine Smith Mayers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and twelve grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Meadville where she was a leader in the church school.  She was a member and past president of the Meadville Bird and Tree Club.  For many years, she served as a Girl Scout leader.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
