Margaret (Marge) J. Slozat, 93, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, passed away there Saturday, March 23, 2013.
She was born April 27, 1919 in Jefferson, OH, a daughter of Daniel and Josephine Slepetski Slozat.
Marge attended the Allentown Bible Institute where she took the Christian Workers Course. She was a licensed deaconess for several years before she became an ordained deaconess in April 1961.
She was a long-time member of the former Geneva Pilgrim Chapel where she served in various church offices, taught the adult bible class, and was a pastor for 6 years. She was an evangelistic singer, companion to the elderly and sick, and she cooked in various restaurants during her spare time.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Estella Mead, Frances Stang, and Ann Craig and three brothers, John, Stephen, and Andrew Slozat.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake where the funeral and committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Houseworth, Pastor of the Meadville Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Anderson Cemetery, Greenwood Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
