Mrs. Margaret A. Prather, wife of Hon. Thomas J. Prather and at one time director of the Meadville School District, died last evening at City Hospital following an illness of several weeks.
A graduate of Allegheny College and a resident of Meadville and vicinity since 1897 with the exception of three years, Mrs. Prather was elected to the School Board and had served almost a full term before her resignation in March of 1938, when the family moved to its present home in Woodcock Township.
The daughter of the late William J. and Sarah Kramer of Oil City, Mrs. Prather was graduated from Allegheny College in 1896 and came to Meadville following her marriage.
She was active in Democratic politics.
Surviving besides her husband, a former judge of Crawford County Courts, are five sons, John B. of Beaver County and Gerald and Frank Prather of Meadville, Thomas J. Prather, Jr. currently of Greece and William K. Prather, serving in the European Theater; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret L. Gould of Scarsdale, NY and Mrs. Marion A. Charlton of Meadville; four sisters, Mrs. R. E. Woolley of Dayton, OH, Mrs. H. E. Kirschner of Monrovia, CA, Mrs. Ada M. Welker of Geneva and Mrs. Carrie Hileman of New Castle and two brothers, William J. Kramer of Los Angeles, CA and David L. Kramer of Tulsa, OK.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
