Margaret Scott Miller, 95, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully Friday, December 4, 2020 in Chambersburg of natural causes.
She was born November 15, 1925 in Conneaut Lake, a daughter of George Washington and Bessie Bell Snyder Scott. She married Richard D. Miller on January, 2 1948. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2000.
Margaret was a 1944 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. She enlisted in the United States WWII Cadet Nursing Corp in May of 1944. She graduated from the Spencer Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nurse’s diploma. She worked as an RN at Spencer Hospital and Meadville City Hospital as well as practicing private duty nursing in the Conneaut Lake and Meadville areas.
A member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, Margaret was active for many years in the church choir, taught children’s Sunday School, Conneaut Lake community Bible School, and was active with the Presbyterian Women.
She enjoyed history, reading, needlework, and keeping up with modern nursing advancements. Margaret had a great love of children and devoted much of her life to caregiving to others.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanine M. Dickson of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Katrina Gallia (Anthony) and Duane Griggs; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Elsa, Nicolo, Zoe and Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine L. Miller; a son-in-law, Douglas E. Dickson; three brothers, George, Howard and DeWayne Scott; and a sister, Audrey Bell Scott who passed away at age 7 in 1917 during the Spanish Flu Pandemic.
Out of an abundance of caution for the health of loved ones, a private burial will be at Southside Cemetery, Shermansville. A memorial service for Margaret will be scheduled when a safe gathering is once again possible.
Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
