Marguerite E. Duerr, 87, of Meadville, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Meadville June 8, 1921 a daughter of William F. and Anna M. Bittler Duerr.
She retired in 1983 as a Technical Secretary at Avtex, Inc. after 39 years of service. She also worked on the weekends as a floral designer and bookkeeper at Duerr’s Flowers.
She was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, its Remember When Group, Women’s Fellowship Group, its choir for over 60 years and a former Elder. She was also a member of the Crawford County Historical Society, the Conneaut Lake Historical Society, the Johnson-Shaw Stereoscopic Museum, the Philo-Mathesian Society and the Social Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed collecting Meadville memorabilia, carving birds from wood and gardening.
She is survived by 9 nieces and nephews, James Duerr and his wife Margaret of Chicago, IL, Norma Zoner and her husband Bob of Lisbon, CT, Larry Spencer and his wife Lane of Meadville, Anna Andes of Stone Mountain, GA, Marguerite Spencer of Davis, CA, Jess Money of Linesville, Evelyn Dennis and her husband Larry of Meadville, William Spencer and his wife Angie of Houston, TX and Dorothy Betts and her husband Bill of Meadville and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Duerr and three sisters, Gertrude Money, A. Catherine Duerr and Sophia Spencer.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 30 N. Park Avenue, Meadville with the Rev. Timothy Solomon, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
