Marian Jean Patton Bentel, 90, of Meadville passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at Wesbury United Methodist Community Marian was born in Aliquippa on July 16, 1926 a daughter of Lester S. and Beryl Keifer Patton Sr. She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1944 and Grove City College with a BA in Education, English and Drama in 1948. She taught for several years at New Castle Junior High School before marrying her high school sweetheart, Charles W. Bentel on June 30, 1949. Marian was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her home and caring for her family. She was very active at the First Presbyterian Church; taught 2nd grade Sunday School for many years, was a member of Love Circle and was President of the Presbyterian Women. Marian volunteered in the Crawford Central Schools and at Wesbury United Methodist Community where she ultimately became Remotivation Coordinator in the Activities Department and worked there for 10 years. She even published an article about her Reflections classes at Wesbury. Marian and Charles have lived in Meadville for over 50 years. She loved vacationing with her husband on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland and at Niagara on the Lake in Ontario, Canada. In addition to her husband, Charles of nearly 68 years, Marian is survived by a daughter, Barbara Rosenbaum and her husband David and a granddaughter, Calynn Rosenbaum all of Cranberry Township; two nieces, Gayle Piroli and her husband Larry and their family of Aliquippa and Beth Ann Gabele and her husband Ken and their family of Cleveland Heights, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lester S. Patton, Jr. and a nephew, Gary S. Patton. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Wesbury United Methodist Community for their loving care of Marian while she was a resident there. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
