Marian Yvonne Cribbs, 94, of Meadville died peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born May 20, 1922 in Union City a daughter of William H. and Vera Louella Manross Johnson. She married Theodore Howard Cribbs December 10, 1943 and he preceded her in death July 9, 1979. She was a graduate of Union City High School and then moved to Meadville where she met Ted when they both worked at Talon, Inc. After they were married Ted served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and Marian worked as a telephone operator in Union City. Then she also worked as a clerk at the Meadville Eckerds Drug Store. Marian grew up at the Union City United Methodist Church then transferred her membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Meadville in 1956. She had a lifelong commitment to the music ministry of Grace United Methodist Church where she played handbells and sang in the choir. She was also a member of its United Methodist Women. She also was a 35 year singing member with the Sweet Adelines. She and her husband enjoyed bowling and won several bowling tournaments and she was an avid knitter and card player of 500 and solitaire. She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla (Ted) Danielson of Southfield, MI and Karen James (Alan Betts) of Pittsford, VT; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great-great children; a sister, Ruth Odom of Whitesburg, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bert O. Johnson and a sister, Clara Eloise Allen. The memorial celebration of life service will be Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 828 N. Main Street, Meadville with Rev. Rebecca Patterson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N.
