Marie Antionette Battaglia, 86, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Meadville and Frenchtown, died Saturday, August 7, 1999, in Tucson.
She was born in Cleveland, OH, November 21, 1912, a daughter of Just Joseph and Marie Anne Gansen Poux. She then moved to Frenchtown with her family as a child. She married F. William Battaglia in 1937. He preceded her in death September 25, 1998.
She graduated from Randolph-East Mead School Board during the 1950s and volunteered for several Meadville area charities. She was a member of the Tuesday Morning Music Club and a choir member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church in Meadville and Sacred Heart Church in Tucson, where she performed as the choir's soloist.
She and her husband moved from Meadville to Tucson in 1980.
Survivors include six children, Carol Coon (Ronald) of Meadville, John Battaglia of Meadville, Mark Battaglia (Mary) of Benson, Kathleen Crawford (James) of Benson, Marcia Jeanne Wyman (William) of Rotonda, FL, and R. Kevin Battaglia (Norma) of Tucson; a brother, Robert J. Poux (Joan) of Titusville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Eugene, and Leon Poux; a sister, Mrs. William (Georgiana) Swaney; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Battaglia.
Interment was in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
