Marie Ida West

Marie Ida West, 79, widow of Harry E. West, died at Erie Osteopathic Hospital Saturday afternoon, April 17, 1965, after a long illness.  She resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy Mae) Helmo of Erie.

Mrs. West was born at Meadville, October 5, 1885, a daughter of John and Margaret Schissler Wagner, and married West September 28, 1909.  He died in November 1950.

She was superintendent of the Church School at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Meadville, for 25 years.  She was a member of Elmwood United Presbyterian Church, Erie; and Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Meadville.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Heimo; two sisters, Margaret Halligan and Mrs. Kathryn Smallenberger of Meadville; a brother, Earl Wagner of Bradenton, FL; a granddaughter, Miss Maryellen Heimo of Erie; six nieces and two nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
