Marie J. Giddens, 94, of Meadville, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since October 1994, died there Tuesday, July 13, 1999 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Slater, Iowa, June 25, 1905, a daughter of Alfred M. and Judith Nerving Robins. She married Paul H. Giddens, March 18, 1927 and she preceded him in death, October 26, 1984.
She was a graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and the Antique Study Club of Meadville. Her husband was a professor at Allegheny College and was a past president of Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.
Survivors, include a daughter, Mrs. Judith Ann White of Washington, DC; two sons, Jackson A. Giddens of Annandale, VA and Thomas R. Giddens of Clearwater, FL and two grandchildren, Ellen Lee Walsh of Lakeland, FL and David Alan Giddens of Milwaukee, WI. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Robins.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
