Marilyn J. Carlson, 85, of Meadville, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born February 3, 1929 in Bradford, a daughter of Earl W. and Alberta Stover Duggan. She married Richard W. Carlson August 2, 1949 and he preceded her in death September 24, 1986.
Marilyn was a graduate of Bradford Area High School. She was a loving mother and devoted wife and homemaker. She also worked at Frist National Bank for 17 years.
Marilyn was a member of Stone United Methodist Church where she also volunteered in addition to volunteering at the Meadville YWCA for many years. She was a life-member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and enjoyed being with people, flowers, eating out, winters in Florida with her dear friend Betty, and time spent with family at Chautauqua Lake for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Larry R. Carlson and his wife Heather of Stow, OH and Dennis L. Carlson and his friend Martha McLaren who was also a good friend of his mother of Meadville; four grandchildren, Vanessa, Jeffrey, Natalie, and Kevin; two great-grandchildren, Molly and Jake; a brother, William Duggan and his wife Francoise of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Molly Beth and Martha Jane Carlson and a grandson, Chase Ryan Carlson.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Thursday at Stone United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
