Marilyn R. (Power) Kinter

Marilyn R. Kinter, 90, of Meadville died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born November 18, 1928 in Cochranton a daughter of Theodore and Ada Walker Power.  She married Robert Kinter March 18, 1950 and he preceded her in death March 3, 1996.

She was a 1946 graduate of Cochranton High School and a 1949 graduate of the former Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked as a registered nurse at the former City Hospital first in the Maternity Department then in the Intensive Care Unit retiring from Meadville Medical Center in 1990 after over 30 years of service.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, volunteered at the Meadville Area Free Clinic and as a driver for the American Cancer Society.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, quilting, sewing, playing dominos with her former MMC ICU colleagues and gin rummy with her granddaughters.

She is survived by four children, Susan Sapone (William) of Fairview, Laurie Jones (Charles) of Meadville, Eric Kinter (Cindy) of Meadville and Polly Schlafhauser (Joseph) of Troy, MI; nine grandchildren, Theodore C. Jones (Sally Guzik), Meghan E. Chu (Michael), Bryant W. Sapone (fiancé Megan Schafer), Eric R. Kinter (Crista), Natalie L. Kinter, Katherine E. Schlafhauser, Jennifer L. Schlafhauser, Grace M. Schlafhauser and Lillian R. Schlafhauser; two great grandchildren, Leyton and Sophia and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Lee Kinter and two brothers, Robert Power and Donald Power.

Calling hours will be Sunday, July 21st from 3-6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville and Monday, July 22nd from 10-11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow Monday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street or the Meadville Area Free Clinic, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 206, both of Meadville, PA 16335.
