Marion A. Charlton, 76, of Meadville, died Thursday, September 1, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following a one-year illness.
Mrs. Charlton was born in Meadville, March 17, 1912, a daughter of Thomas J. and Margaret Kramer Prather. She married James S. Charlton, Jr. September 1, 1934. He survives.
She retired in 1974 as a teacher from Meadville Area Junior High School after 15 years of service. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church. She was a 1933 graduate of Allegheny College. She had been a volunteer for the Tel-Med tape service.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Stanton of Meadville and Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Flannigan of Los Angeles; two sons, Don Scott Charlton and James Prather Charlton, both of Denver, CO; one brother, Thomas J. Prather, Jr. of Basking Ridge, NJ; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret, and five brothers, Frank, Gerald, John, William and Don Prather.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
