Marion (Adell) Dykes

October 18, 1906 — May 21, 1999

Marion (Adell) Dykes, 92, a resident of Rolling Fields, Conneautville, and formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, May 21, 1999, at her residence.

She was born October 18, 1906, in Hayfield Township, a daughter of Harry William and May Woodward Line.  She married Harold Eugene Dykes November 17, 1928.  He preceded her in death June 13, 1972.

She was employed in food service at Allegheny College for 13 years.  She had previously been employed by Talon, Inc.

She was a member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, Conneaut Lake.

A proud and active member of Daughter of the Union Veteran of Civil War 1861-1865, she was past president of the Daughters of the Union Veterans.

She enjoyed crafting and taught craft classes at the Fifth Street Presbyterian Church for 10 years.  She founded the Conneaut Mariners.  She enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Patsy Ann) Brown of Linesville; five grandchildren, Gregory, Brown, Deborah Grant, Dharlene Matrogran, Charlene States and Jodi Brown; ten greandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Hansbrough and Dorothy Lewis.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
