Marjorie E. "Marg" Bert

Marjorie E. “Marg” Bert, 88 of Jackson Center, passed away on February 25, 2020 at Avalon Springs in Mercer, Marg was born on August 27, 1931 in Uniontown, PA to the late William Tellferd and Mary (Foster) Walker. She was a graduate of Franklin High School in Murraysville and went on to become a draftsman for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, she then drove bus for Poole Bussing, worked at Interstate Auto Auction, as well as was a homemaker for her husband and children. Marg married her beloved husband, Melvin D. “Mel” Bert, in January 1956, he preceded her in death on October 24, 2019. Marg enjoyed gardening, cooking, taking care of her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and playing games with them. She enjoyed volunteering for Lakeview Area Meals on Wheels and attended Oak Grove Church when her health permitted. Marg is survived by her sons; George Bert of Jackson Center, Robert Bert and wife Betsy of Fredonia, Michael Bert and wife Catherine of Jackson Center, and David Bert of Jackson Center, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Marg was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberlee Cooney, infant great-grandson, Nathaniel Zirkle, and brother William “Bill” Walker. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 1-3 pm on Saturday, February 29, a funeral service will take place at 3 pm at the funeral home.
