Marjorie P. Mears

Marjorie P. Mears, 80, formerly of Meadville, died Monday, December 3, 2007 at St. Paul Homes, Greenville following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 30, 1927 in Indiana, PA, a daughter of the late Emerson Frank and Jeannie Coy Putt.  She married Stanley P. Mears June 26, 1948 and he preceded her in death February 3, 2000.

She worked at Montgomery Wards, Meadville for many years and had been employed at David’s Jewelers of Meadville, GTI of Saegertown, and was a former owner and operator with her late husband of Stan’s Dairy Store, Meadville.

Marjorie was a member of First Baptist Church, Meadville where she was formerly very active and was a former member of the KJU class.

She was a former member of the Meadville Garden Club, Women’s Club, and Sweet Adeline’s.  An avid card player, she was formerly active in numerous card clubs and especially loved to cook and sing.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Mears Vitz and her husband Charles of Red Lion, PA; 2 sons, Denny Mears and his wife Billie Jo of Hadley, PA and Wayne Mears and his wife Pamela of Dover, PA; 6 grandchildren, Jeremiah Mears, Denny Mears, Holly Thomas, Heather Mears, Brandy Goodman, and Tyler Mears; 3 great-grandchildren, Lexi Mears and Madison and Dawson Thomas; 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marie Putt of Dallas, TX and Patricia Rounds of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral service will follow Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Ferraro, Pastor of First Church of God, Meadville officiating.

Interment will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery, East Mead Township, Crawford County.
