Mark J. (Cappy) Caplinger

Mark J. (Cappy) Caplinger, 28, of Meadville, passed away November 19, 2019 due to an asthma related illness.

He was born April 16, 1991 in Johnstown, a son of Jeff and Sylvia Smith Caplinger.

Mark was a 2009 graduate of Meadville High School.  He was employed at Dollar Tree and formerly at Giant Eagle.  He was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship, United Pentecostal Church.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  He enjoyed hiking, playing the saxophone and football, and admiring the sunsets.  He especially loved his son, Xander.

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Sylvia Caplinger of Meadville; his son, Xander Caplinger at home; a brother, Larry Caplinger (girlfriend, Alexx) of Batavia, NY; his maternal grandmother, Rose Smith of Beaver; Xander’s mother, Rebecca; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Smith and his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Beatrice Caplinger.

Family and friends will be received Friday, November 22nd from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Bault officiating.
