Marsha J. Scott

Marsha J. Scott of Meadville passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 with her best friend, her husband William, by her side.  She was 79.

She was born July 31, 1940 in Warren, PA, a daughter of Raymond and Charlotte Lillie Beatty.  She attended both Saegertown and Meadville High School and graduated in 1958 from Meadville High School.  Marsha moved to Phoenix, AZ after high school where she worked as a telephone operator then returned to Pennsylvania where she continued to work as a telephone operator and at Montgomery Ward.

Soon after her return, she met and married William Lee Scott January 27, 1962.  They were married in a small ceremony in Mercer, PA and recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.  They built a home in the country, liked to go on day-trips, out to eat, and just spending time watching birds, wildlife, and enjoying the bucolic country scenery.

Marsha was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was a Christian.  She was a long-time member of Watson Run Presbyterian Church in Vernon Township.  A self-taught musician, she played the organ, piano and accordion.  She played at her oldest daughter’s wedding, as well as for some church services, up until a few years ago.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards, and spoiling her grandchildren as well as the family dog.

In addition to her loving husband Bill, she will be missed by her three daughters, Jacqueline (Gary) Harned of Meadville, Linda (Sean) O’Day of Ashland, VA and Carolyn (David) Harned of Meadville; her sister, Diane Harned of Meadville; her grandchildren, Anthony Bocchine, Michael (Michela) Bocchine, Jason Harned, Logan (Mary Beth) O’Day, Shanley O’Day, Delanie O’Day, Tyler Smock, Haley (Tim) Jackson, and Corey Harned; her great-grandchildren, Henry Lee O’Day and Francis Jackson; sisters-in-law, Linda Herrick and Bonnie (Pete) Cornell; brother-in-law, Jerry Hart; and many nieces, nephews and her loving Shetland Sheepdog, Lily.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Mildred and Leroy Scott; a grandson, Angelo Bocchine; her brother, Kenneth Herrick; her sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Dean; her brother-in-law, Wayne “Skip” Dean; and her sister-in-law, Wynan Hart.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 2nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Greg Vanderveen officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
