Martha B. Caldwell

Martha B. Caldwell, 92, formerly of Meadville, and a resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home for the past seven years, died there Tuesday, July 21, 1998, following a period of declining health.

She was born in Washington, PA, December 31, 1905, a daughter of L. Scott and Ida Belle (Lesnett) Welling.  She married Howard C. Caldwell February 4, 1933 and he preceded her in death April 6, 1989.

She worked in the Assembly Department of Talon for 13 years, was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ its Friendly Sisters class and church Guild.  She also enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Stafford of Saegertown and Janet Elaine Walczak of Meadville, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a son, Howard C. Caldwell, Jr., a twin sister, Mary Leighty and a brother, Lloyd Welling.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Venango Cemetery.
