Martha Hazen Williams, 94, formerly of Bailey Road, Meadville, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Meadville November 28, 1915 a daughter of Rodney Carmen and Catherine DeRoss Hazen. She married Merle C. Williams March 15, 1953 and he preceded her in death July 10, 2004.
She worked for Spectrum Control and previously worked for in the Inspection Dept. at Talon and also at G.T.I. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and she was a graduate of Meadville High School.
Survivors, include: two sons, Rodney Williams and his wife Dina of Meadville and Tom Mertz and his wife Sue of Erie; two daughters, Rebecca Flood and her husband Brian of West Port, CT and Sue Gilson and her husband Robert of Roseville, CA; a step-son, Tom Williams of Ashtabula, OH; seven grandchildren, Jeff Mertz, Sandy Mertz Brady, Cory Williams, Karie Williams, Dylan Flood, Morgan Flood and Lucas Flood; four great grandchildren, Aston Mertz, Carson Mertz, Blake Brady and Reese Brady and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Mertz; a brother, Carmen Cornealus Hazen and four sisters, Catherine Lucile Lawrence, Dorothy Mae Peterson-Reese, Anna Jane Clawson and Mildred Cecile Roesch.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Spahr, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens
