Martha J. Lance

Martha J. Lance, 89, of Meadville died Friday, April 9, 2021 at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fl.  She was born August 21, 1931 in McMechen, WV a daughter of Roy W. and Mildred E. Carroll Prettyman.  She married Elmer J. Lance September 9, 1952 and he preceded her in death February 3, 2013.

She was a 1949 graduate of Orlando High School, Orlando, FL and a 1952 graduate of Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked as a registered nurse at the former Meadville City Hospital for 25 years retiring in 1986.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, traveling and camping.

She is survived by four children, Robert W. Lance (Belinda) of Prospect, TN, Daniel J. Lance (Michele) of Meadville, Mary Kathryn Karn (David) of Cambridge Springs and Barbara J. Emig (Patrick) of Saegertown; her twin sister, Mary J. Wilson of Clermont, FL; five grandchildren, Brianna Lance, Bethany Lance Murphy (Josh), Benjamin Lance, Deni Lance and Rachel Lance; five great grandchildren, Lindy, Leanna and Laina Murphy and Iris and Fenton Lance; a sister-in-law, Roberta Prettyman of Apopka, FL and several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her faithful dog, Molly.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Ann Lance, a brother, James E. Prettyman and a brother-in-law, Ray Wilson.

Calling hour will be Wednesday, April 21st from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
