Martha “LaRue” Firle, 81 of Sandy Lake, passed away on June 29, 2020 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville. LaRue was born in Dixonville, PA on July 24, 1938 to the late Paul and Margaret (Rager) Ferrier. She was a graduate of Cochranton High School. LaRue worked at K-Mart and at Warco over the years as well as a homemaker for her husband and children. She was married to her beloved husband, August E. Firle, Jr., who preceded her in death on August 2, 2019. LaRue loved antique tractors and loved attending the Mercer County Antique Power Association Show every year. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, as well as fishing with her husband in her earlier years. LaRue is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Firle and companion Gordon Riley of Greenville, and Daphney Scott of Clarks Mills, grandson Doug Hawks and companion Heidi Walker of Sheakleyville, and sister Betty George and husband Dick of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to her husband, LaRue was preceded in death by her son, Douglas May. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. There will be no services as per LaRue’s wishes. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
