Mary A. Depascale

Mary A. DePascale, a lifelong resident of Meadville and owner of the DePascale Travel Agency, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Beachwood, Ohio.

Mary was the daughter of Edward and Anna DiLorenzo DePascale, born on May 20, 1918. She lived in Meadville her entire life until her recent illness, and was a well-respected citizen of the city.

Mary is survived by three sisters: Irma Davies of Beachwood, Ohio, Inez Markel of Newburgh, NY and Constance Thoma of Parma, Ohio, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was pre deceased by her parents, Edward and Anna DePascale, two sisters: Gloria Mongillo of Salamanca, NY and Anna Meyer of Rocky River, OH and a brother: Peter DePascale of Meadville.

She was a lifelong member of St. Brigid Church.

She was the owner of DePascale Travel Agency for many years, taking over the business from her father, who began the business in 1927. She was a member of the American Society of Travel Agents from 1955-2000, The Zonta Club of Meadville, and Business and Professional Women of Meadville, of which she was a loyal member for over 60 years. She organized a huge fund raiser for that organization, a free cruise giveaway. She was generous and socially conscious, supporting many other local causes and charities during her life. She was the winner of many awards for her accomplishments as a businesswoman in the Meadville area, among which was the “Tribute to Women” Award from the YWCA of Meadville in 1994, the first year the award was established.

She was a world traveler, and visited most countries in Europe, South America and Asia during her time as a travel agent, and she organized many tours for travelers in Meadville and the surrounding area, opening the world to everyone she met.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a Scripture Prayer service at 4:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St Brigid Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
