Mary Ann Miller, 88, of Centerville and formerly of Hartstown, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born February 7, 1923 in Beemer, NE a daughter of Simon and Lovina Egli Grieser. She married Kenneth O. Miller November 23, 1945 and he preceded her in death May 19, 2007. Before she and Kenneth were married she worked at the former American Viscose Corp. for a few years. Then shortly after they were married they moved to California where she worked as an aid in a tuberculosis hospital. When she and her husband returned to this area she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Grace Mennonite Chapel, Georgetown Road, Hadley and a former member of Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Conneaut Lake and was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was an avid quilter, knitter and sewer and enjoyed gardening and canning.
Survivors include six children, Richard D. Miller and his wife Diane of Cookeville, TN, Eileen R. Miller of Conneaut Lake, Jean M. Groce of Hartstown, Gail A. Hoover and her husband James of Rockwall, TX, Sylvia M. Jones and her husband Brian of Wattsburg and Janet S. Troyer and her husband Ronald of Centerville; four sisters, Fern Ulrich of Eureka, IL, June Junker of Sarasota, FL, Ruth Oyer and her husband Melvin of Joliet, IL, and Shirley Schertz and her husband Ray of Saybrook, IL; a brother, Daniel Grieser and his wife Norma of Sebring, FL; seventeen grandchildren, Edwin Miller and his wife Shana, Amos Miller and his wife Amanda, Simon Miller, Ethan Groce, Amelia Light and her husband Erik, Jared Groce and his wife Jennifer, Michael Emmel and his wife Christine, Ryan Doutt and his wife Cassandra, Andrew Jones and his wife Susan, Erin Fonzo and her husband Benjamin, Robert Jones, Jason Troyer, Rebecca Thomas and her husband Philip, Rachael Troyer, Jonathan Troyer and his fiancée Stephanie Banks, Rhonda Troyer and Regina Troyer; six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Twila Grieser and Marian Grieser both of Conneaut Lake.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Mae Bachman and three brothers, Warren Grieser, Wayne Grieser and an infant brother, Vern Grieser.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 12981 Foust Road, Conneaut Lake.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Mennonite Church with Pastor Sam Hostetler of Grace Mennonite Chapel, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Grace Mennonite Chapel, 152 Georgetown Road, Hadley, PA 16130.
