Mary Beth Cowden, 44, formerly of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Elizabethton, TN.

She was born February 27, 1974 in Portsmouth, VA a daughter of Ward Marvin and Barbara Kay Myers Cowden.

She was a 1992 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School where she played on the girls basketball and volleyball teams.  She served in the US Army from 2002-2004 as a helicopter repair specialist.  She was a member of the Hartstown Volunteer Fire Department first as a Junior Fireman and then as an E.M.T.  She was a gifted artist as shown by her painting at Pump House 45 in Hartstown and also Doggie’s Sign.  She enjoyed 4-H from rabbits to horses in the Jog-A-Long 4-H club.  She also enjoyed hunting and fishing from an early age.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara K. Cowden of Hartstown; three daughters, Emerald Mitchell of Conneaut Lake, Elyssa Mitchell of Linesville and Michelle Allen currently serving in the US Navy; a granddaughter, Evelyn; a sister, Theresa M. Dempsey (Vance) of Meadville and a brother, David G. Cowden (Suzanne) of Hartstown.

Visitation will be Friday, August 24th from 1-2:45 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.  The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Southside Cemetery, Shermansville, with Rev. John Hodge, Pastor of the Pymatuning Charge of the United Methodist Church, officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.
