Mary Beth (Rice) Brace

Mary Beth Brace, 75, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Marquette Hospice House after her long battle with liver cancer.  Mary Beth left this world surrounded by her family and loving staff of Crawford County Hospice.  She lived her life with grace, dignity and will be missed by all who know and loved her.

She was born March 31, 1942 in Meadville, a daughter of Victor and Elizabeth Williams Rice.  She married Marion Kent Brace May 30, 1998 and he survives.

Beth was a graduate of Meadville High School.  She worked in the payroll department at Talon, then for Morco in Cochranton and then retired as the credit manager for the former Agway Energy Products after 20 years of service.

She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, Vernon Township Auxilliary, Meadville Business and Professional Women and Wendy’s Lunch Bunch.  She also served on the Miss Crawford County Board and participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Kent, include a son, Shaun A. Augello of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Allison L. Schoonover and her husband Bill of Meadville; four step-children, Michael Brace and his wife Grace of Meadville, Robert Brace and his wife Trina of Meadville, Diane Patton and her companion Raleigh Beusch of Meadville, and Patricia Brace of Marshall, MN; five grandchildren, Zachary Schoonover, Abbey Parker and her husband Mitch, and Liam, Kyle, and Kaylie Augello; seven step-grandchildren, Mitchell King, Michael Brace and his fiancée Lauren Shepherd, Tasha Brace, Alec Brace and his fiancée Brooke Griffin, Aaron Brace, Zackery King, and Meg Brace; two step-great-grandchildren, Nate Brace and Adilyn Ribb; a sister, Carol Reese of Conneaut Lake; a brother, Patrick Rice of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Kathy Brace of York, PA; two brothers-in-law, J. Richard Reese of Conneaut Lake and Kerry Brace and his wife Debby Noakes of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Victor and Elizabeth Rice, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Rice and an infant brother, Kenneth Gary Rice.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, September 20th at 2:30 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas of the Catholic Community of Meadville, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Allan Sung and his staff of Wexford, PA for the exceptional procedures, treatments and care given to Mary Beth to prolong her time with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street or the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 310 both of Meadville, PA 16335.
