Mary E. Sikes, 72, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, March 12, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Sikes was born in Randolph Township, May 22, 1915, a daughter of William and Naomi Snyder Lang. She married Robert E. Sikes, September 30, 1939. He preceded her in death September 19, 1975.
She was a case worked for 12 years in the Crawford County office of the state Department of Public Welfare. She previously was employed at Talon, Inc. She attended Harmonsburg United Methodist Church. She was a 1933 graduate of the former Randolph High School. She was a member of the Mead Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; Rebekah Lodge, Conneaut Lake; Gallavanters Club, Meadville; Conneaut Lake Yacht Club and the American Assn. of Retired Persons.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Alan L. Sikes of Springfield, VA; one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Kathryn) Underwood of Meadville; one brother, Neal Lang of Guys Mills; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Capt. Robert Sikes and one sister, Elva Lang.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
