Mary E. Turner, 89, of Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
She was born in Erie September 24, 1924 a daughter of George and Mary Phillips Miller. She married Clarence Turner August 16, 1942 and he preceded her in death May 21, 1998.
She was a graduate of Randolph High School and worked first at Wolfe’s Store, then Trasks (predecessor to Carlisle’s and Peebles Department Store) and then at Talon Inc. She was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, cross stitching and sewing.
She is survived by two daughters, Sonja Mosbacher and her husband James of Saegertown and Pamela Shouey of Meadville; three sisters, Gail Trace of Meadville, Evelyn Reed of Erie and Kay Derrough of Canada; four grandchildren, Duane Mosbacher and his wife Julie, Michelle Young and her husband Alan, Heidi Albaugh and her husband Shawn and Ashley Shouey; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Turner; a son-in-law, Gary Lee Shouey; two sisters, Edith Anderson and Virginia Kaylor; a half-sister, Genevieve Jewett; and two half-brothers, Edgar and Floyd Miller.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Roger Smith of First Christian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
