Mary E. Wright, 75, of Meadville, where she had lived for 44 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Owens of Meadville, Tuesday, June 2, 1964, after an illness of two years.
A daughter of Marion and Hannah Ferguson Chambers, she was born February 12, 1889, in Lancaster County. Her husband, Charles A. Wright, Sr., whom she married April 10, 1920, died August 29, 1953.
Mrs. Wright taught for several years at business schools in Lancaster and in Passaic, NJ. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Union, Lancaster County, and of the Wayland Ladies Aid Society.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sarah) Johnson of Canoga Parks, CA, Mrs. Mary Owens, Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Jankowski of BayPort, Long Island, NY and Mrs. Max (Florence) Dillaman of Meadville; two sons, Charles A Jr. of Meadville and Marvin A. of Ashtabula, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Corey of Dutton, MT and Mrs. Esther McNiss of Harrisburg and twenty grandchildren.
A son, William D. Wright, was killed in action March 29, 1945, while serving with the Navy at the battle of Okinawa.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, East Mead Township.
