Mary Ellen Edmonds, 93, of Meadville went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family at her residence, Saturday, October 17, 2020.
She was born March 10, 1927 in Meadville a daughter of Ernest K. and Anne Haenel Hall. She married Richard W. Edmonds in September 1949 and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage. She was very proud of the fact that they were high school sweethearts and had been together for 74 years.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School and worked at Westinghouse, as a therapist at the former City Hospital and as a school crossing guard. She was a life-long member of Stone United Methodist Church and sang in its choir for 50 years. She lived her life devoted to Christ. She enjoyed reading Bible Scriptures, the Upper Room daily and would pray often.
She was a diehard sports fan following the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. She would often point out that on her honeymoon they went to a Pirates baseball game. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, playing softball, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. She and her husband also enjoyed participating in the Keystone State Games.
She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and was always looking to help other people. She would give to several organizations, including Stone United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Red Cross among many others. She also enjoyed collecting items telling her family that someday they could be very valuable and worth a fortune. She also would play the Pennsylvania Lottery with the dream of helping her family and others. She was always caring and giving and expecting nothing in return.
