Mary Gay Wellington Geigel, 68, of Meadville passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 10, 1947 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John S. and Margaret Wellington. She married Arthur J. Geigel, II March 10, 1979 and he survives. Gay was a 1965 graduate of Meadville High School and served on her 50-year reunion committee. She was a 1969 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education, was a member of Phi Mu national sorority, and was inducted into the Universitys athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Gay worked as a public school teacher in Aurora, Ohio and was a teaching tennis professional at the Solon, Ohio YMCA and at Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson, Ohio. She was a former member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, Cleveland Heights, Ohio and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Meadville. Art and Gay moved from Ohio to Meadville in 2014 as Gay wanted to return to her hometown. She was a member of the National Humane Society as she loved animals as well as enjoyed photography, artwork, and intricate tie dying. Art and Gay were the recipients of the Most Beautiful Home award in University Heights, Ohio in 2013. Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Art of almost 37 years, include a son, Arthur J. Geigel, III of Shaker Heights, Ohio; two brothers, John S. Wellington and his wife Laurie of Meadville and Charles H. Wellington of York; and three dear nieces and their children. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd. or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
