Mary J. Gerard

Mary J. Gerard, 92, of Meadville, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at Juniper Village. She was born March 28, 1925 in Meadville, a daughter of John H. and Jane M. Triola Pendleton. She married Howard J. Gerard September 28, 1943 and he preceded her in death August 22, 1994. Mary attended Meadville Public Schools. She worked at the American Viscose, Talon, the Racquet Club of Meadville, and as the manager of Stateside Laundromat. A member of St. Brigid Church, Mary enjoyed bowling for many years and volunteered for SouthernCare Hospice. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. Stockton of Cochranton and Nancy L. Manning (David) of Meadville; four grandchildren, Nicolle McClain (Scott) of Cochranton, Jennifer Moore (Jason) of Austintown, OH, Michele Levenson (Matt) of Wilmington, NY, and Ryan Manning (Megan) of Easton; nine great-grandchildren, Schuyler, Carter, Bridgette and Jackson Deeney, Christopher Wendorf-Manning, Regann McClain, Allexis Sallee, and Benjamin and Lauren Manning; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus David Manning; a grandson-in-law, Dr. Kevin Deeney; and two sisters, Alice Bell and Frances Spinnato. Calling hours will be Monday, March 19th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Tom Trocchio as Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. The family wishes to thank SouthernCare Hospice and the staff of Juniper Village for going above and beyond for their wonderful care.
