Mary Karen Phillips

Mary Karen Phillips, 72, of Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Sharon October 18, 1938, a daughter of the late Oliver and Helen Phillips.

Karen was a 1956 graduate of Sharon High School and a graduate of the former Carnegie Tech, Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in fine arts.  She was employed for a short time for Hallmark Greeting Cards, Kansas City, MO as a card designer and subsequently was a self-employed free lance artist designing greeting cards.

Karen was of the Episcopalian faith, was an avid bridge player, and was an avid reader and was a former volunteer at Shontz Memorial Library, Conneaut Lake.  She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful flowers.

She is survived by many friends.

A memorial prayer service will be held at a date and time to be announced.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shontz Memorial Library, P.O. Box 5117, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.

Arrangements are under the direction of Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
