Mary Lou Barnes, 78, of 401 N. Main Street, Meadville, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born December 22, 1924 in New Castle a daughter of Dr.W.A. and Anna Mae Stansfield Womer. She married Lynn L. Barnes May 22, 1948 and he preceded her in death July 28, 2000.
She was a 1946 graduate of Allegheny College with a B.A. in German where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church since 1948 and a former member of the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Meadville Women’s Club, the Antique Study Club and the Tuesday Morning Music Club where she sang and played the flute. She also supported her husband in the operation of a local business, Barnes Auto Service. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, particularly to Europe.
Survivors, include a son, Clark W. Barnes of North Olmsted, OH.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Womer and Margaret Leonard.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Sunday from 1:30-2:30 at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 at the church with Rev. Dr. James Durlessor, Pastor and Rev. William L. Brown, Visitation Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Allegheny College, 520 N. Main Street, Meadville or Stone United Methodist Church Music Dept., 956 S. Main Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
