Mary Lou Minshull, 89 of Lake Twp, Jackson Center, passed away at her home on March 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. Mary Lou was born in Stoneboro on December 25, 1930, to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Jones) Shaw. She was a graduate of Langley High School in Pittsburgh. Mary Lou worked for many years as a beautician, a teacher’s aide for Lakeview School District, as well as a homemaker for her husband and children. Mary Lou married her beloved husband, Donald Minshull, on June 18, 1949, he preceded her in death on August 23, 2017. Mary Lou was a member of Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, she was also a member of the Red Hats, Rebekah Lodge, homemakers club, Girl Scouts, and a member of the same card club for 60+ years. She was a talented seamstress, making numerous dresses and costumes for family over her years, including the Living Nativity costumes for her church. She loved collecting antiques and vintage clothing, holding vintage fashion shows with her friend Betty Steve. She was very artistic and enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom dancing and square dancing. She was a talented gardener and loved her flower and herb gardens. She also enjoyed cooking and canning. Mary Lou is survived by her children; Karen Mowry (Charles “Chuck”) of Sandy Lake, Donna Maxwell (David) Grove City, Alan “Curt” Minshull (Janene) of Stoneboro, and Lisa Brocklehurst (Burt) of Jackson Center, grandchildren; Kari Stafford (Tim), Erin Anderson (Kirk), Charles B. Mowry, Randall Schweinsberg, Hanna Maxwell (Dr. Ralph Downey), Bowen Maxwell (Cathy Gilliland), Stephanie Mittelmier (Cori Pikna), Philip Minshull, Bronwyn Brocklehurst, and Burton Brocklehurst, great-grandchildren; Kacie, Taylor, Tyler, Sidney, Grace, Brenna, Bella Evaudia, Willow, and Roman, her sister Margaret Susan Jones, sister-in-law Bonnie Shaw, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother Donald Shaw. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 4-7 PM, Thursday, March 12. Additional visitation will be on Friday, March 13, from 10-11 AM at the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Beth Creekpaum, church pastor, officiating.
