Mary M. Gable

Mary M. Gable, 89, of 11678 Park Row, Meadville died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the Meadville Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Kerrtown, January 14, 1915 a daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Santanello Chest.

She worked at Talon and for the Civil Service for 10 years.  She was also a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Park Row, Kerrtown and was affectionately known to generations of local neighborhood children as “Grandma.”  She was an avid bingo player and was known for her generosity, sense of humor and wit.

Survivors, include: four sons, Nicholas Gable and his wife Barbara of Meadville, Albert Gable and his wife Bonnie of Key West, FL, Louis Gable and his wife Trish of Fort Pierce, FL and Donald Gable and his wife Nancy of Key West, FL; two nieces whom she raised, Nancy Pavlac of Pompano Beach, FL and Donna Swavey of Venango; one brother, James Chest and his wife Margaret of Meadville, twelve grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Furno, three brothers, Lewis, Nick and Patsy Chest and one grandson, Danny Gable.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The Vigil Prayer service will be Friday at 8:45 p.m. at he funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville with Fr. Mark A. Hoffman as Celebrant.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
