Mary P. McLaren, 88, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
She was born December 8, 1924 in Conneaut Lake, a daughter of Stanley and Elizabeth Baer Lemish. She married Clinton Ray McLaren July 5, 1947 and he preceded her in death July 23, 2002.
Mary was a 1943 graduate of East Fallowfield High School and a graduate of the Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nurse’s degree. She worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Meadville City Hospital and previously was employed at Talon.
Mary was a member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking, as she was famous for her homemade pies, and picking and canning fruit.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Mattocks and her husband Larry of Meadville; two sons, Mark McLaren and his wife Linda of Meadville and Kevin McLaren and his wife Wendy of Crimora, VA; a step-daughter, Marjory Osborne of Parma, OH; a stepson, Raymond McLaren and his wife Missy of Glenwood, IL; a sister, Constance Zack of Jefferson, OH; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason McLaren; two brothers, John and William Lemish; two sisters, Josephine Kilok and Pauline Prosser; two infant brothers; a niece, Diane Zack; and a nephew, William Zack, Jr.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Barco Chapel of Grace Nursing Center, Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville with Fr. Johnathan P. Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Church, as Celebrant. Also participating in the service of remembrance will be the Rev. David Maitland, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Butler.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
