Mrs. Mary Philp, 83, of Meadville, widow of Robert R. Philp, died Saturday, April 18, 1964, after a long illness.
Mrs. Philp was a graduate of Allegheny College in the Class of 1904 and was a member of the college's Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She was born in Meadville April 8, 1881, a daughter of James D. and Flora A. Forbes Roberts. She and Mr. Philp were married August 28, 1906. He died January 21, 1963.
Mrs. Philp was a member of First Presbyterian Church, its Priscilla Society and its Halcyon Class. She was a director of Crawford County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of Col. William Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Crawford County Historical Society. Her husband had been treasurer of the society for a number of years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. A. C. (Frances) Sproat of Mercer and Mrs. Roberta Hewitt of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
